So, Chronicle Books, publishers of all sorts of awesome stuff, is having a pretty remarkable giveaway. They’re giving away $500 worth of books to one blogger and one commenter on the winning blog post, plus $500 worth of books to a charity of the winner’s choice (ETA: I’d go with FirstBook). Check out the details here. It was a lot of fun to put my dream list together; $500 goes a long way when we’re talking about books, even nice, hardcover books. And it was interesting to see what kind of things appealed to me. Would I ever have guessed that I would be interested in so many books of stencils? No, I would not.
- Moleskine red hardcover 12 month weekly planner with the days on the left-hand side and a blank page for notes on the right. I’ve had this exact planner for four years now and it’s the absolute best for how I like to organize my schedule and thoughts and to-do lists. $18.95
- Madhur Jaffrey’s Quick & Easy Indian Cooking. She’s the best at something I’d like to be better at. $19.95
- Ruhlman’s Twenty. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this book. $40.00
- Saveur‘s New Comfort Food: Home Cooking From Around the World. I really like home cooking. $35.00
- Stencil 201. Adorable and useful. $24.95
- A Life in Stitches. I already have a copy of Rachael Herron’s lovely book of essays, but I know plenty of people who don’t. $14.95
- Pattern Magic. Pure eye candy. $24.95
- Silhouette Art. Crap, do I want to start doing paper craft stuff now? I think I might. $18.95
- The Street Art Stencil Book. Very cool. $29.95
- Lotta Jansdottir Stencils. I seem weirdly into stencils today. $24.95
- Embroidered Effects. Jenny Hart kicks ass. $24.95
- Lotta’s Printing Studio. I’ve had this on my radar for a while. $19.95
- Stencil 101. Yup, weirdly compelled to stencil things. $24.95
- Lotta Prints. I guess this is different from the other book? Sure. $19.95
- Lotta Jansdottir’s Simple Sewing. All your Lotta belongs to me. $24.95
- Sublime Stitching. Jenny Hart still kicks ass. $19.95
- Twentieth-Century Pattern Design. Gorgeous. $50.00
- Pattern Magic 2. Dreamy. $24.95
- Florence Broadhurst: Her Secret and Extraordinary Lives. I’ve wanted to read this since it came out. $24.95
total: $487.20
Thank you for indulging me! Let me know if you decide to enter too. In the meantime, here is a picture of some super-glowy leaves I took yesterday while I was walking to work:
